A Swiss citizen can stay up to 30 days per entry on the e-VOA. The e-VOA is single entry, and 30 days do not add up across visits.
Business trip E-visa: 60 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
42 of 60 days
1 Mar – 11 Apr: 42 of the 60 days this visa allows in one visit.
e-VOA stay: The e-VOA allows one entry and a stay of up to 30 days from the date you arrive. A new e-VOA is needed for each trip.
No simple extension: The e-VOA cannot be extended beyond 30 days. To stay longer, apply for a residence permit or a different visa at an immigration office before the stay expires.
Overstaying: Overstaying brings a daily fine. An overstay of more than 60 days can lead to detention, deportation or a ban on future travel to Indonesia.

The portal accepts applications up to 14 days before travel. The government advises finishing at least 48 hours before departure. Nothing in the Swiss passport changes these limits.
Do you hold an ordinary Swiss passport, not a provisional or emergency one?
Is your passport valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date?
Will you enter at a listed airport, seaport or land crossing?
Will your stay be 30 days or less?

Answer all four
Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check if you need to apply
Confirm the e-VOA applies to your trip. Check your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Scan your passport biodata page and prepare a passport-style photo. Both must be JPG, JPEG or PNG and under 200 KB. Have a Mastercard, Visa or JCB card ready.
On the official portal

Create an account on the official e-Visa website and activate it from the verification email within one hour.
Complete the application
Sign in, choose the visa type, enter your arrival details and address in Indonesia, and upload your documents.
Pay the fee
Pay online by Mastercard, Visa or JCB within 120 minutes of starting the payment, or submit the application again.

Yes. Switzerland is on the list of eligible nationalities published by the Embassy of Indonesia in The Hague. Apply on the official e-Visa portal, evisa.imigrasi.go.id, before you fly. The portal itself could not be opened for this check, so confirm your eligibility there before you apply.
Up to 30 days from the date you arrive, for one entry. The e-VOA cannot be extended beyond 30 days. To stay longer, apply for a residence permit or a different visa at an immigration office before your stay expires.
Yes. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Officials can also check a return or onward ticket at the border.
Yes. Every traveller, including children, submits it online within 3 days before arrival. Show the QR code sent to your email with your passport at the border.
The destination rules say there is no separate cash counter for the e-VOA. Apply online before you travel. The fee is paid by Mastercard, Visa or JCB. An older embassy page describes a cash visa on arrival, so check the official e-Visa portal before you travel.
Only the named international airports, seaports and land crossings on the official list. Arriving at any other point means the e-VOA does not apply, and you would need a different visa. Check the official list on the e-Visa portal before you book, because the lists I read do not match exactly.
The e-VOA cannot be extended past 30 days. Apply for a residence permit or a different visa at an Indonesian immigration office before your stay expires. Do not wait until the last day.

Type C
Type C is used both at home and in Indonesia, so your own plugs fit — though you may meet the other types too.
Voltage
230 V · 50 Hz
Same as Switzerland — phones, laptops and shavers work with only an adapter, no converter.
Pack: nothing special — your type C plugs go straight in. A small power strip is still handy where hotel rooms have one socket.

Getting around
Indonesia is an archipelago, so domestic flights and ferries link the islands, while ride-hailing apps like Gojek and Grab are the easiest way to get around cities. Traffic in Jakarta and Bali can be heavy, so allow extra time.
Health
Tap water is not safe to drink; use bottled or boiled water. Dengue occurs, so use repellent. Malaria risk exists in rural eastern Indonesia, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra, but not Jakarta or Bali's resorts; check with a doctor first.
Customs and etiquette
Dress modestly at temples and mosques, and remove shoes before entering homes and places of worship. Indonesia is majority Muslim, so be considerate around prayer times and during Ramadan, especially outside Bali.
Indonesia uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
Carry cash outside big cities
Cards are mainly accepted in bigger cities and tourist spots like Jakarta and Bali. Many smaller businesses, warungs and markets are cash only, so keep rupiah on hand.
Use ATMs for local currency
ATMs are common in cities and tourist areas. Always choose to be charged in rupiah, not your home currency, to avoid a poor dynamic-conversion rate. Withdrawal limits are often around 2.5-3 million rupiah per transaction.
Exchange only at licensed counters
Change cash at banks or licensed money changers, not informal street counters, to avoid short-changing and counterfeit notes.

Sweet spot: Jakarta has a tropical climate with high heat and humidity year-round. The wet season runs from around November to March, with the heaviest rain and flood risk in January and February. June to September is the driest, sunniest stretch, and May marks the start of the dry season.
