Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 30 days per visit without a visa. The 30 days start on arrival and cannot be extended.
Business trip E-visa: 60 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
42 of 60 days
1 Mar – 11 Apr: 42 of the 60 days this visa allows in one visit.
Visa-free stay: You may stay up to 30 days from the date you arrive. The limit applies to each entry. Days do not add up across visits.
No extension: Visa-free stays cannot be extended. To stay longer, apply for a residence permit or another visa at an immigration office before your 30 days end.
Entry points: Visa-free entry only works at the named international airports, seaports and land crossings. Arriving elsewhere means a different visa is needed.
Overstaying: Overstaying brings a daily fine. An overstay of more than 60 days can lead to detention, deportation or a ban on future travel to Indonesia.
What the 30 days do not mean: Thirty days is the maximum, not a right. The immigration officer decides the stay on arrival and can refuse entry without giving a reason.
Three things to have ready before you start your application, as a Hong-Kong applicant.

Will you enter and leave through a listed airport, seaport or land crossing?

Answer all three
Three quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check your passport
Confirm your Hong Kong passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Check you have a return or onward ticket.
Passport rule comes from the destination guide.
Confirm your entry point
Check that you will arrive at a listed airport, seaport or land crossing. Visa-free entry does not work elsewhere.
On the official portal
Submit the All Indonesia Arrival Card
Complete the online form within 3 days before arrival. It covers immigration, customs and health declarations. Children need one too.
Use the official site only.
Save the QR code
You will receive the QR code by email. Save a copy on your phone or print it.
After you apply
Show your documents at the border
Show your passport, QR code and return ticket. The immigration officer decides entry and the length of stay.
Plan for a longer stay
If you need more than 30 days, apply for a residence permit or other visa at an immigration office before your stay ends. Visa-free stays cannot be extended.

No, not for a visit of up to 30 days. Hong Kong passport holders can enter visa-free. You still need to submit the All Indonesia Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival.
Up to 30 days from the date you arrive, per entry. The stay cannot be extended. For a longer stay, apply for a residence permit or another visa at an immigration office before your 30 days end.
No. The e-VOA is not needed for Hong Kong passport holders on a visit of up to 30 days. You only need the All Indonesia Arrival Card.
Within 3 days before you arrive. You will get a QR code by email. Show it with your passport at the border. Children need one too.
Only the named international airports, seaports and land crossings on the official list. Check the list before you travel. Arriving at an unlisted point means a different visa is needed.
Yes, in practice. A return or onward ticket is checked at the border, and the officer can ask to see it. Entry can be refused without a reason if it is missing.
Overstaying brings a daily fine. An overstay of more than 60 days can lead to detention, deportation or a ban on future travel to Indonesia.

Indonesia uses type C and F sockets and your plugs are type G. A G-to-C adapter works for the whole trip.

Against 220 V · 50 Hz at home. Check the label on chargers and appliances: anything marked 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz works in both.

Getting around
Indonesia is an archipelago, so domestic flights and ferries link the islands, while ride-hailing apps like Gojek and Grab are the easiest way to get around cities. Traffic in Jakarta and Bali can be heavy, so allow extra time.
Health
Tap water is not safe to drink; use bottled or boiled water. Dengue occurs, so use repellent. Malaria risk exists in rural eastern Indonesia, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra, but not Jakarta or Bali's resorts; check with a doctor first.
Customs and etiquette
Dress modestly at temples and mosques, and remove shoes before entering homes and places of worship. Indonesia is majority Muslim, so be considerate around prayer times and during Ramadan, especially outside Bali.
Indonesia uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
Carry cash outside big cities
Cards are mainly accepted in bigger cities and tourist spots like Jakarta and Bali. Many smaller businesses, warungs and markets are cash only, so keep rupiah on hand.
Use ATMs for local currency
ATMs are common in cities and tourist areas. Always choose to be charged in rupiah, not your home currency, to avoid a poor dynamic-conversion rate. Withdrawal limits are often around 2.5-3 million rupiah per transaction.
Exchange only at licensed counters
Change cash at banks or licensed money changers, not informal street counters, to avoid short-changing and counterfeit notes.

Sweet spot: Jakarta has a tropical climate with high heat and humidity year-round. The wet season runs from around November to March, with the heaviest rain and flood risk in January and February. June to September is the driest, sunniest stretch, and May marks the start of the dry season.
