Finland is on Indonesia's e-VOA list. Apply online before you fly for a single-entry, 30-day stay covering tourism, business meetings, government visits, goods purchasing or transit.
Those who cannot use the e-VOA
Stateless travellers, and holders of a laissez-passer or other non-national travel document, cannot get an e-VOA and must apply at an Indonesian embassy or consulate instead.

The e-VOA lets a Finnish passport holder stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days from the date of arrival, on a single entry. It does not allow extensions or a second entry on the same visa.
E-Visa On Arrival: 30 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
21 of 30 days
1 Mar – 21 Mar: 21 of the 30 days this visa allows in one visit.
One visit only: The e-VOA is single entry. Leaving Indonesia and coming back needs a fresh e-VOA, not a re-use of the old one.
No extension beyond 30 days: To stay longer than 30 days, you must apply for a residence permit or a different visa at an immigration office before the e-VOA expires. It cannot simply be extended.
Overstaying has consequences: Staying past the 30 days brings a daily fine. Overstaying more than 60 days can lead to detention, deportation or a ban on returning to Indonesia.
Four things to have ready before you start your application, as a Finnish applicant.
Colour scan or photo of the full biodata page, JPG, JPEG or PNG, maximum 200 KB. Your Finnish passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the arrival date.
Recent passport-size photo, JPG, JPEG or PNG, maximum 200 KB. A standard Finnish passport photo can be rescanned to meet this size.
Must have 3D Secure enabled and accept international transactions. Check this with your Finnish bank first. The card need not be in the applicant's name.
A printed or digital copy of a return or connecting ticket out of Indonesia. An immigration officer can ask to see it on arrival.
Processing takes 7–10 business days. Enter your arrival date and we'll work backwards.

Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check your passport and entry point
Make sure your Finnish passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, and that you will land at an airport, seaport or land crossing on Indonesia's e-VOA list.
Prepare your documents
Scan your passport's biodata page and a passport photo, both under 200 KB in JPG, JPEG or PNG. Have a Mastercard, Visa or JCB card with 3D Secure ready.
On the official portal
Register an account
Create an account on the official e-Visa website and activate it from the verification email within one hour.
Complete the application
Sign in, choose the e-VOA, enter your arrival details and Indonesian address, and upload your documents.
Pay the fee
Pay by Mastercard, Visa or JCB within 120 minutes of starting, or you must submit the application again.
Download the e-VOA
Once approved, download the e-VOA from your account. A copy is also emailed to you.
After you apply
Submit the All Indonesia Arrival Card
Within 3 days before arrival, fill in this digital form online and keep the QR code it emails you, to show with your passport at the border.
Carry a copy on arrival
Keep a soft or hard copy of the e-VOA with your passport. An immigration officer can still refuse entry without giving a reason.

Yes. Finland is on Indonesia's e-VOA list, so Finnish passport holders apply online for an electronic Visa on Arrival before flying, rather than entering visa-free.
No. Indonesia's visa-free entry mostly covers ASEAN countries plus a short list of others. Finland is not on it, so Finnish travellers use the e-VOA instead.
The e-VOA is designed to be applied for online before you fly. Applying in advance avoids queuing at the airport counter and lets you fix document issues before travelling.
The official requirement is 6 months of validity from arrival. There is no separate e-passport condition stated for the e-VOA.
No. The e-VOA covers tourism, business meetings, government visits, goods purchasing and transit. Working in Indonesia needs a different visa.
The e-VOA and visa-free facility only apply at named airports, seaports and land crossings. Arriving elsewhere means a different visa is needed.
No. The e-VOA cannot be extended. To stay longer than 30 days, apply for a residence permit or another visa at an immigration office before it expires.

Type C
Type C and F sockets are used both at home and in Indonesia, so your own plugs fit.
Voltage

Same as Finland — phones, laptops and shavers work with only an adapter, no converter.
Pack: nothing special — your type C and F plugs go straight in. A small power strip is still handy where hotel rooms have one socket.

Getting around
Indonesia is an archipelago, so domestic flights and ferries link the islands, while ride-hailing apps like Gojek and Grab are the easiest way to get around cities. Traffic in Jakarta and Bali can be heavy, so allow extra time.
Health
Tap water is not safe to drink; use bottled or boiled water. Dengue occurs, so use repellent. Malaria risk exists in rural eastern Indonesia, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra, but not Jakarta or Bali's resorts; check with a doctor first.
Customs and etiquette
Dress modestly at temples and mosques, and remove shoes before entering homes and places of worship. Indonesia is majority Muslim, so be considerate around prayer times and during Ramadan, especially outside Bali.
Indonesia uses the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
€1 ≈ Rp17,561 · indicative mid-market rate, possibly a few days old
Carry cash outside big cities
Cards are mainly accepted in bigger cities and tourist spots like Jakarta and Bali. Many smaller businesses, warungs and markets are cash only, so keep rupiah on hand.
Use ATMs for local currency
ATMs are common in cities and tourist areas. Always choose to be charged in rupiah, not your home currency, to avoid a poor dynamic-conversion rate. Withdrawal limits are often around 2.5-3 million rupiah per transaction.
Exchange only at licensed counters
Change cash at banks or licensed money changers, not informal street counters, to avoid short-changing and counterfeit notes.
