A Cambodian tourist e-visa or visa on arrival lets a UK passport holder stay 30 days from the date of entry. This can be extended once for a further 30 days at Cambodia's immigration department before it expires.
Tourist: 30 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
21 of 30 days
1 Mar – 21 Mar: 21 of the 30 days this visa allows in one visit.
Single entry only: The tourist e-visa and visa on arrival allow one entry. Leaving and coming back needs a fresh visa unless you hold a multiple-entry business visa.
One extension only: A 30-day tourist visa can be extended once for another 30 days at the immigration department. After that you must leave Cambodia.
Overstaying: Staying beyond your visa brings a daily cash fine paid when you leave. GOV.UK warns that overstays of more than 30 days can mean detention or deportation.
Not a work permit: A tourist or business e-visa does not let you work in Cambodia. Working needs a business visa plus a separate work permit from the Department of Labour and Social Affairs.
Eight things to have ready before you start your application, as a UK applicant.
Valid at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with one blank visa page. A damaged or heavily worn passport can be refused.
A recent colour photo. Upload it as a JPEG or PNG for the e-visa. For an embassy application, bring a 2x2 inch photo taken in the last 6 months and staple it to the paper form.
e-Visa: pay online by card. Visa on arrival: cash US dollars only, in clean, undamaged bills. Embassy in Washington, D.C.: money order or cashier's cheque only, no cash, cards or personal cheques.
If you enter Cambodia by air, complete the e-Arrival Card within 7 days before arrival. It is free and required at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville airports.

GOV.UK advises UK travellers to apply for the e-visa at least 4 days before flying. Applying about a week ahead leaves room to fix a rejected photo or upload and resubmit.

Will you enter through one of Cambodia's 3 international airports or the 2 open land border crossings?

Answer all four
Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check your passport and route
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, has a blank page, and is undamaged. Confirm you'll enter through an accepted checkpoint.
Decide how to apply
Choose the e-visa for the simplest route, or apply in person or by post at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London if you'd rather get a visa sticker before you fly.
On the official portal
Apply at evisa.gov.kh
Fill in the form with your passport details, upload a digital passport photo and your passport bio page, and pay the fee with a UK debit or credit card.
Check status and download
Use the check-and-change tool on evisa.gov.kh with your reference number, then download and print your approved e-visa to carry with your passport.
After you apply
Submit the Cambodia e-Arrival form
Complete this free form no more than 7 days before you land and save the QR code it gives you.
Register your accommodation
If you're staying in a hotel or guesthouse, check the manager registers you on Cambodia's Foreigners Present in Cambodia System. Register yourself if staying privately.
Yes. The UK is not on Cambodia's visa-exemption list, so British passport holders need an e-visa, a visa on arrival, or a visa from a Cambodian embassy before travelling.
Yes. Apply online at evisa.gov.kh. The Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London does not handle e-visas, so contact the e-visa office directly with any questions about your online application.
GOV.UK advises applying at least 4 days before you travel. Applying a little earlier gives you time to fix a rejected photo or document and resubmit.
Yes. You can apply in person or by post at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London, separately from the online e-visa system.
No. It's a free digital immigration, health and customs declaration you must submit within 7 days of arrival. You still need a visa if you're not visa-exempt.
Yes, online payment is by debit or credit card, though the fee is charged in US dollars. Check with your card provider about any foreign transaction charge.
We could not confirm Cambodia treats other British passport types differently from a British Citizen passport. If you hold one, check directly with the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London before applying.
GOV.UK advises checking with your travel provider, and a return or onward ticket can be requested by border staff or an embassy, so keep a copy to hand.

Type G is used both at home and in Cambodia, so your own plugs fit — though you may meet the other types too.

Same as the United Kingdom — phones, laptops and shavers work with only an adapter, no converter.
Pack: nothing special — your type G plugs go straight in. A small power strip is still handy where hotel rooms have one socket.

Getting around
Tuk-tuks, ride-hailing apps and hired cars with a driver are the easiest way to get around Cambodian towns and cities. Roads between provinces can be rough, and self-driving a scooter needs care and caution.
Health precautions
Tap water isn't safe to drink; stick to bottled or filtered water. Use mosquito repellent, since dengue is present, and check recommended vaccinations with a travel clinic before you go.
Respect local customs
Remove your shoes and hat before entering temples and homes, dress modestly at religious sites, and avoid touching anyone's head. Public displays of affection are frowned on.
Cambodia uses the Cambodian Riel (KHR).
US dollars are everyday cash
Cambodia runs on both US dollars and riel side by side. Larger notes and most prices are quoted in dollars; riel is used mainly for small change.
ATMs are easy to find
ATMs in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and other towns dispense US dollars and accept most foreign cards, usually for a withdrawal fee. Carry cash for rural areas and land borders.
Cards work in cities, cash elsewhere
Hotels, bigger restaurants and shops take cards, but markets, tuk-tuks and small guesthouses expect cash, so keep a stock of small dollar and riel notes.
