US Proposes Major Fees for Optional Practical Training for F-1 Students

The US government has proposed a rule that would introduce significant fees for Optional Practical Training (OPT) for F-1 international students. The proposal sets an initial OPT fee at $70,000 and a subsequent OPT fee at $30,000, with the stated goal of combating fraud and protecting US workers. The rule is only a proposal at this stage and would not take effect immediately.
