Thailand reduced its visa-free stay from 60 days to 30 days per entry starting 15 September 2026. The exemption list was also cut from 93 to 60 countries and territories, with Taiwan still included. Travelers who entered before that date keep the stay granted on their entry stamp, and all visa-exempt visitors must complete the free TDAC arrival card within 3 days before arrival.

Thailand has cut its visa-exemption stay from 60 days to 30 days per entry, effective 15 September 2026. The exemption list was also redrawn, shrinking from 93 countries and territories to 60; Taiwan is among those still eligible, and the change replaces the 60-day scheme in place since July 2024. Travelers who entered before 15 September keep the stay granted on their entry stamp.

Every visa-exempt visitor must also submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 3 days before arrival. It is free, must be filed for each entry, and has been in place since 1 May 2025. Overstaying carries a fine of 500 baht per day up to 20,000 baht, with re-entry bans for longer overstays.

What this means for travelers

  • Plan trips around a maximum 30-day stay per entry, and book the return flight within that window.
  • Fill in the TDAC online in the 3 days before landing and keep the QR code saved offline.
  • Carry a passport valid at least 6 months, proof of accommodation, and cash of 20,000 baht per person (40,000 baht per family); credit cards are not accepted as proof of funds.
  • To stay longer, apply for a 30-day extension at a Thai immigration office for 1,900 baht, or get a tourist visa or DTV before departure.
