Saudi Arabia

Do Uzbek citizens need a visa for Saudi Arabia?

No, Uzbekistan citizens do not need to visit an embassy: Uzbekistan has been on Saudi Arabia's e-Visa eligible list since August 2023, so most trips can be arranged online.

How long you may stay

The eVisa lets Uzbekistan citizens stay up to 90 days on each visit to Saudi Arabia. The same eVisa stays valid for multiple entries for one year from the date it is issued.

  • Up to 90 days per visit: Each time you enter on the eVisa, you may stay up to 90 days. This is the limit per visit, not a running total across the year.

  • Multiple entries for one year: You can leave and come back as many times as you like while the eVisa is valid, as long as each stay stays within 90 days and the passport used matches the one on the application.

  • Not a residence or work permit: The eVisa only covers tourism, leisure, family visits and Umrah outside the Hajj season. It does not let you work or settle in Saudi Arabia.

Your document checklist

Four things to have ready before you start your application, as an Uzbek applicant.

  • Passport

Valid for at least 6 months from your entry date to Saudi Arabia. Apply and travel on the same passport.

  • Digital photo

200 x 200 pixels, 5 to 100 KB, plain white background, no other people or objects, face filling 70 to 80 percent of the frame, taken in the last 6 months.

  • Email address

Used to register on the portal and to receive the issued eVisa as an email attachment.

  • Payment card

A Visa or Mastercard that is enabled for online payments abroad. Check with your bank before applying, since not every Uzbek-issued card supports foreign online payments.

Four questions, 20 seconds

  1. Is your passport valid for at least 6 months after your planned entry date?

  2. Will you travel on the same ordinary Uzbekistan passport you plan to apply with?

  3. Is your trip for tourism, leisure, visiting family or Umrah outside the Hajj season?

  4. Are you 18 or over, or travelling with a guardian aged 18 or over?

Answer all four

Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.

The application, step by step

Before you apply

  1. 1

    Check your passport and photo

Make sure your Uzbekistan passport has at least 6 months of validity left, and prepare a digital photo meeting the official specification.

  2. 2

Have an email address and payment card ready

You will need a working email address to register, and a Visa or Mastercard enabled for online payments abroad.

On the official portal

  1. 3

Register on the official eVisa portal

Create an account on the Saudi eVisa portal with your email address and verify it.

  2. 4

Enter your passport and trip details

Fill in your passport details exactly as they appear in your Uzbekistan passport, upload the photo, and answer the eligibility questions.

  3. 5

    Pay the government fee online

Pay by card on the portal. If the card is declined, check with your bank that it is enabled for international online payments, then try again.

After you apply

  1. 6

    Receive the eVisa by email

If approved, the eVisa arrives as an email attachment. Save a printed or digital copy to show on arrival.

  2. 7

    Travel on the same passport

Present the same Uzbekistan passport used in the application at the border. Immigration will capture your biometric details on entry.

Questions Uzbek travellers actually ask

Yes. Uzbekistan has been on Saudi Arabia's e-Visa eligible list since 6 August 2023, so most tourist trips can be arranged online without visiting an embassy.

Not for a typical tourist trip. Uzbekistan citizens can apply for the eVisa on the official portal. An embassy visit is only needed for purposes the eVisa does not cover, such as work or study.

Only if your passport already carries a valid, used US, UK or Schengen visa. Otherwise, Uzbekistan citizens apply for the eVisa before flying.

The eVisa application asks for your passport details as printed, including the machine-readable lines. No translation or attestation was mentioned on the official portal.

You need a card enabled for online payments abroad. Check with your bank before applying, since not every locally issued card supports international online payments.

The eVisa is tied to the passport number used in the application. If you get a new passport before travelling, you need a new eVisa on that passport.

Yes, outside the Hajj season. The same tourist eVisa covers Umrah, tourism, leisure and visiting family.

The things that make the first 48 hours easy, compared with home

Your Uzbek plug won't fit. Here's what will.

  • Type G

    Three flat pins · 13 A

Type G

Saudi Arabia uses type G sockets and your plugs are type C and F. A C-to-G adapter works for the whole trip.

Voltage

230 V · 60 Hz

Against 220 V · 50 Hz at home. Check the label on chargers and appliances: anything marked 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz works in both.

Pack: one type G adapter and a small power strip — hotel rooms rarely have more than two sockets.

Saudi Arabia drives on the right — just like home

Compare traffic side:

Saudi Arabia · right-hand traffic — same as Uzbekistan

  • Getting around

Riyadh has a metro and bus network; Jeddah and other cities rely on taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Careem. Car hire is easy and common for trips between cities and to sites like AlUla.

  • Heat and health

Summers are extremely hot, with daytime highs above 40C from May to September. Carry water, limit time outdoors at midday, and use sun protection, especially away from the coast.

  • Dress and etiquette

Modest dress is expected for everyone in public: shoulders and knees covered. Alcohol is illegal. Public life pauses briefly at prayer times, when some shops and restaurants close for a short while.

Saudi Riyals, cash and cards

Saudi Arabia uses the Saudi Riyal (SAR).

SAR

UZS1 ≈ SAR0.000296 · indicative mid-market rate, possibly a few days old

  • Cards work almost everywhere

Bank cards and mobile payments are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants in cities, so carrying large amounts of cash is rarely necessary.

  • Keep small notes for cash tips

Riyal notes are still useful for tipping porters, valets and drivers, and for small vendors and traditional markets that prefer cash.

  • ATMs are widely available

Cash machines are common in airports, malls and city centres and accept most international bank cards, but can be scarcer in small towns and rural areas.
