Kazakhstan is on the e-Visa list
Most travellers
Kazakh passport holders apply online on the official portal before flying. It covers tourism, visiting family, business events and Umrah outside Hajj season, without a trip to the embassy.
Diplomatic passports
These passports do not use the tourist e-Visa. Holders apply through the Saudi embassy or consulate instead, as with every nationality.

The e-Visa lets Kazakh passport holders stay up to 90 days on each visit. It is multiple-entry and valid for 1 year from the date it is issued.
Tourist E-visa: 90 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
63 of 90 days
1 Mar – 2 May: 63 of the 90 days this visa allows in one visit.
One visit, 90 days: Each entry allows up to 90 days. The visa does not bank up days across the year: every new entry within the 1-year validity gets its own up-to-90-day stay.
Not a work or study permit: The 90 days covers tourism, family visits, business events, and Umrah outside Hajj season. It does not allow employment or study in Saudi Arabia.
No extensions: The e-Visa cannot be extended. Leave before the 90 days or the 1-year validity runs out, then apply again for a new trip.
Overstaying: Staying beyond the permitted 90 days is an immigration offence and can count against future Saudi visa applications.
Five things to have ready before you start your application, as a Kazakh applicant.
Valid for at least 6 months from your entry date into Saudi Arabia. Use the same passport throughout the application and at the border.

The portal charges the government fee in Saudi riyals. A Kazakhstani-issued card enabled for international online payments should work; check with your bank before applying.

No official earliest or latest application date is published, but the portal asks for your travel dates. Apply about a week ahead to leave room if a photo or detail needs resubmitting.
Are you travelling on an ordinary Kazakhstani passport, not a diplomatic, special or official one?
Does your passport have at least 6 months of validity left from your entry date?
Are you 18 or older, or applying together with a parent or guardian?
Is your trip for tourism, visiting family, a business event, or Umrah outside Hajj season?

Answer all four
Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check you qualify
Confirm you hold an ordinary Kazakhstani passport valid for at least 6 months, and that your trip is for tourism, family, business events or Umrah outside Hajj season.
Prepare your documents
Get a compliant digital photo, have your email address ready, and set aside a card enabled for international online payment.
On the official portal
Create an account
Register on the official Saudi eVisa portal with your email address and verify it.
Complete the application
Enter your Kazakhstani passport and personal details, upload your photo, and answer the eligibility questions.
Pay the government fee
Pay online with your card. VAT is added automatically at checkout.
After you apply
Receive the e-Visa by email
If approved, the e-Visa arrives as an email attachment. Save a copy, printed or digital.
Travel on the same passport
Enter Saudi Arabia on the same Kazakhstani passport used in the application. Immigration captures biometrics on arrival.

Yes. Kazakhstan is on Saudi Arabia's e-Visa eligible list, so ordinary passport holders can apply on the official portal before flying, instead of going to an embassy.
Use your ordinary passport. Diplomatic, special and official passport holders apply through diplomatic channels instead of the tourist e-Visa.
The portal takes payment by debit or credit card in Saudi riyals. A Kazakhstani-issued card enabled for international online payments should work, but check with your bank first, since this is not guaranteed by the portal.
Yes, outside the Hajj season. You still need to register separately on the Nusuk platform for the Umrah rituals; the e-Visa on its own does not cover that step.
Renew it first. Saudi Arabia requires at least 6 months of validity from your entry date, and the application is refused otherwise.
No. Only citizens of other Gulf Cooperation Council states can use a national ID card. Kazakhstani citizens need a passport and an e-Visa.
No. The e-Visa cannot be extended. Leave before the 90 days are up, then apply again if you plan another trip within the 1-year validity.

The things that make the first
48 hours easy, compared with home
Type G
Three flat pins · 13 A
Type G
Saudi Arabia uses type G sockets and your plugs are type C and F. A C-to-G adapter works for the whole trip.
Voltage
230 V · 60 Hz
Against 220 V · 50 Hz at home. Check the label on chargers and appliances: anything marked 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz works in both.
Pack: one type G adapter and a small power strip — hotel rooms rarely have more than two sockets.

Getting around
Riyadh has a metro and bus network; Jeddah and other cities rely on taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Careem. Car hire is easy and common for trips between cities and to sites like AlUla.
Heat and health
Summers are extremely hot, with daytime highs above 40C from May to September. Carry water, limit time outdoors at midday, and use sun protection, especially away from the coast.
Dress and etiquette
Modest dress is expected for everyone in public: shoulders and knees covered. Alcohol is illegal. Public life pauses briefly at prayer times, when some shops and restaurants close for a short while.
Saudi Arabia uses the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
₸1 ≈ SAR0.00787 · indicative mid-market rate, possibly a few days old
Cards work almost everywhere
Bank cards and mobile payments are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants in cities, so carrying large amounts of cash is rarely necessary.
Keep small notes for cash tips
Riyal notes are still useful for tipping porters, valets and drivers, and for small vendors and traditional markets that prefer cash.
ATMs are widely available
Cash machines are common in airports, malls and city centres and accept most international bank cards, but can be scarcer in small towns and rural areas.
