Denmark is on Saudi Arabia's e-Visa eligible list as an EU member state. Apply online with your ordinary passport, a digital photo and an email address, and skip the embassy entirely.
Diplomatic passport holders
The e-Visa list is for ordinary passports only. Holders of a Danish diplomatic, special or official passport apply through diplomatic channels instead of the online portal.

* The government fee is the government's own charge, never refundable. All-in adds Plusvisa's service fee, per traveller; it is refunded if we cause a refusal.
The e-Visa lets a Danish passport holder stay up to 90 days on each visit, and can be used for entries over one year from the date it is issued. The one-year validity is not a single 90-day stay; each visit is capped separately at 90 days.
Tourist E-visa: 90 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
63 of 90 days
1 Mar – 2 May: 63 of the 90 days this visa allows in one visit.
90 days per visit, not per year: You can leave and re-enter Saudi Arabia multiple times within the year of validity, but no single stay can run past 90 days.
Not an automatic year-long stay: Having a visa valid for a year does not mean you can remain in the country continuously for a year; each stay still counts against the 90-day limit.
Overstaying: Staying beyond 90 days on one visit is an overstay. Danish travellers should plan an exit or a new entry before the 90 days run out.
Four things to have ready before you start your application, as a Danish applicant.

Used to register on the portal and to receive the issued e-Visa as an attachment.
A Danish or other internationally enabled debit or credit card to pay the government fee online at checkout.
Processing takes 3–5 business days. Enter your arrival date and we'll work backwards.

Is your passport an ordinary Danish passport, not diplomatic, special or official?
Is your passport valid for at least 6 months after the date you arrive in Saudi Arabia?
Is your trip for tourism, Umrah outside the Hajj season, or visiting family, rather than Hajj pilgrimage?
If you are under 18, will you be travelling with a parent or guardian aged 18 or over?

Answer all four
Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check your passport and photo
Make sure your ordinary Danish passport has at least 6 months left from your arrival date, and prepare a digital photo to the official specification.
Have an email address and payment card ready
You will need a working email address to register, and a debit or credit card to pay the government fee online.
On the official portal
Register on the official portal
Create an account on the Saudi eVisa portal using your email address and verify it.
Fill in your details
Enter your passport and personal details exactly as they appear in your Danish passport, upload your photo, and answer the eligibility questions.
Any mismatch with your passport leads to refusal.
Pay the fee
Pay the government fee online by card; VAT is added at checkout.
After you apply
Receive the e-Visa by email
If approved, the e-Visa arrives as an email attachment. Keep a printed or digital copy for the airline and for arrival.
Travel on the same passport
Arrive in Saudi Arabia on the same Danish passport used in the application. Immigration takes your biometric details on entry.

No. A Danish national ID card is not accepted. You need an ordinary Danish passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
No. As a Danish passport holder you are on the e-Visa eligible list directly, so the substitute route for used US, UK or Schengen visas does not apply to you.
Yes. The e-Visa is an online application you complete before travelling, using the official portal run by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism.
Many visitors can hire a car with a valid foreign or international driving licence, but rules vary by nationality. Check directly with the car hire company before you travel.
Each traveller, including children, needs their own passport and their own e-Visa application. There is no single family application on the portal.
The e-Visa is tied to the passport number used in the application. You must travel on the same passport; a new passport number means a new application.
No. The e-Visa list covers ordinary passports only. Danish diplomatic, special or official passport holders apply through diplomatic channels instead.

The things that make the first
48 hours easy, compared with home
Type G
Three flat pins · 13 A
Type G
Saudi Arabia uses type G sockets and your plugs are type C, E, F and K. A C-to-G adapter works for the whole trip.
Voltage
230 V · 60 Hz
Against 230 V · 50 Hz at home. Check the label on chargers and appliances: anything marked 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz works in both.
Pack: one type G adapter and a small power strip — hotel rooms rarely have more than two sockets.

Getting around
Riyadh has a metro and bus network; Jeddah and other cities rely on taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Careem. Car hire is easy and common for trips between cities and to sites like AlUla.
Heat and health
Summers are extremely hot, with daytime highs above 40C from May to September. Carry water, limit time outdoors at midday, and use sun protection, especially away from the coast.
Dress and etiquette
Modest dress is expected for everyone in public: shoulders and knees covered. Alcohol is illegal. Public life pauses briefly at prayer times, when some shops and restaurants close for a short while.
Saudi Arabia uses the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
Cards work almost everywhere
Bank cards and mobile payments are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants in cities, so carrying large amounts of cash is rarely necessary.
Keep small notes for cash tips
Riyal notes are still useful for tipping porters, valets and drivers, and for small vendors and traditional markets that prefer cash.
ATMs are widely available
Cash machines are common in airports, malls and city centres and accept most international bank cards, but can be scarcer in small towns and rural areas.
