Most people
Finnish passport holders are on Egypt's e-Visa eligible list. You apply online through the official portal before flying and show the printed approval on arrival.
Sinai resorts only
If you're flying straight to Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba and staying only there, Finnish passport holders can get a free stamp on arrival instead of an e-Visa. It does not let you travel to the rest of Egypt.
Non-ordinary passports
Finnish citizens with a diplomatic, service or other non-ordinary passport, or a travel document instead of a passport, cannot use the e-Visa and must apply at an Egyptian embassy or consulate before travel.
| e-Visa | Validity | Processing | Government fee | All-in with Plusvisa* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Tourist eVisa | 30 days Multiple entry | 5–7 business days | US$65 ≈ €61 | ≈ €97 |
Tourist eVisa | 30 days Single entry | 5–7 business days | US$30 ≈ €28 | ≈ €55 |
* The government fee is the government's own charge, never refundable. All-in adds Plusvisa's service fee, per traveller; it is refunded if we cause a refusal.
Egypt's tourist e-Visa is issued as single-entry or multiple-entry. Both let a Finnish visitor stay up to 30 days per visit, and the e-Visa itself stays valid for use for a set window after issue.
Tourist: 30 days per visit.

21 of 30 days
1 Mar – 21 Mar: 21 of the 30 days this visa allows in one visit.
Single-entry e-Visa: Covers one trip into Egypt, with a stay of up to 30 days. It cannot be used again once you leave.
Multiple-entry e-Visa: Lets you enter more than once while the e-Visa is valid, with each individual stay still limited to 30 days.
It is not a 30-day-per-month allowance: The 30 days is the maximum for one continuous stay, not a running total. Leaving and re-entering does not reset a single-entry visa.
Overstaying: The destination guide notes Egyptian port authorities can refuse entry or cause problems at exit for anyone who stays beyond what their visa allows.
Extensions: If you want to stay longer than your e-Visa allows, you apply at a passport and immigration office inside Egypt before it expires, as described in the main Egypt guide.
Six things to have ready before you start your application, as a Finnish applicant.
Colour scan of the personal details page. Must be valid at least 6 months from arrival and have a blank page.

Flight booking showing arrival and departure dates. A Finnair or other airline e-ticket is accepted.
Hotel booking or address for the whole stay.
A Visa, Mastercard or other accepted card that can pay online in US dollars. Most Finnish bank cards work; check your bank allows foreign currency online payments before applying.

The official portal sets no fixed earliest or latest date. Applying around 10 days before you fly leaves time for standard processing and for fixing and resubmitting an upload if it's rejected.
Are you travelling on an ordinary Finnish passport, not a diplomatic, service or other special passport?
Will your passport still be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival date, with a blank page free?
Are you arriving at one of Egypt's listed e-Visa airports, seaports or land borders?
Is your trip for tourism, a business visit or visiting family, rather than work or study?

Answer all four
Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.
Before you apply
Check you qualify
Confirm your Finnish passport is ordinary (not diplomatic or service), has at least 6 months' validity from your arrival date, and a blank page.
Gather your documents
Have your passport bio page scan, a digital photo, flight booking and hotel details ready, plus a card that can pay online in US dollars.
On the official portal
Create an account
Register on the official Egypt e-Visa Portal with your email address and confirm the registration link.
Fill in the application
Sign in, choose single or multiple entry, and enter your personal, passport and travel details exactly as they appear in your Finnish passport.
Pay online
Pay with a Visa, Mastercard or other accepted card. The portal charges in US dollars, so check your bank's foreign transaction terms.
After you apply
Download your e-Visa
Once approved by email, sign back into your account and download and print the e-Visa.
Present it on arrival
Show your printed e-Visa with your passport to the immigration officer at an approved Egyptian airport, seaport or land border.

Yes. Finland is on the Egypt e-Visa Portal's eligible list, so most Finnish passport holders travelling for tourism, business or family visits can apply online before flying.
For Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba only, Finnish citizens can usually get a free Sinai-only stamp on arrival instead of an e-Visa. Hurghada is not part of this Sinai-only zone, so you need the e-Visa or another valid route there.
The portal charges in US dollars, so you need a Visa, Mastercard or other card that can make an online payment in that currency. Check with your Finnish bank if you're unsure your card allows this.
What matters is your final port of entry into Egypt. Check it's on the official list of approved airports, seaports or land borders before you book.
Egypt asks for at least one blank page for the entry stamp, on top of 6 months' validity from your arrival date. This applies to every nationality, including Finnish passport holders.
No. The e-Visa and entry to Egypt require a passport. A Finnish national ID card is not an accepted travel document for this trip.
Egyptian port authorities can refuse entry or cause problems on exit if you stay longer than your e-Visa allows. If you need more time, apply to extend at a passport and immigration office in Egypt before it expires.

Getting around
Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are linked by domestic flights, sleeper and day trains, and Nile cruises. Within cities, ride-hailing apps are widely used and generally more reliable than hailing a taxi on the street.
Health and water
Drink bottled or filtered water rather than tap water, and carry sun protection and rehydration salts, especially outside the Cairo winter. Discuss standard travel vaccinations with a doctor before you go.
Dress and etiquette
Dress modestly at mosques, churches and other religious sites, covering shoulders and knees. Ask before photographing people, and avoid photographing military or police sites.
Egypt uses the Egyptian Pound (EGP).
€1 ≈ E£52.4 · indicative mid-market rate, possibly a few days old
Cards and ATMs
ATMs are common in cities and tourist areas and mostly accept international cards. Hotels, larger shops and restaurants take cards, but smaller vendors, taxis and markets usually want cash.
Carry small notes
Keep a supply of small EGP notes for tipping (locally called baksheesh), taxis, and small purchases, since change can be hard to come by.
Exchange sensibly
Exchange money at banks, official exchange bureaus or your hotel rather than with street changers, and keep some exchange receipts if you plan to convert leftover cash back on departure.

Sweet spot: Cairo has a hot desert climate. Winters (December to February) are mild and dry with cool evenings, spring and autumn are warm, and summer (June to August) is very hot with little rain. Most visitors prefer the cooler months from October to April.
