Two routes into Egypt
Ordinary passport
Azerbaijani citizens with an ordinary passport apply online through the official Egypt e-Visa Portal before flying, then print the approved e-Visa to show on arrival.
Other passports
Diplomatic, service or official passports cannot use the e-Visa. Depending on the bilateral agreement in force, holders either apply at an Egyptian embassy or consulate, or may be exempt; check with the embassy before travel.
Azerbaijan issues ordinary, service and diplomatic passports. Egypt treats them differently.

The tourist e-Visa lets Azerbaijani citizens stay in Egypt for up to 30 days per entry. A single-entry e-Visa must be used within about 3 months of issue, and a multiple-entry e-Visa within about 6 months, each visit still capped at 30 days.
Tourist: 30 days per visit.
Arrive 1 March
21 of 30 days
1 Mar – 21 Mar: 21 of the 30 days this visa allows in one visit.
30 days is per visit, not per trip: A multiple-entry e-Visa lets you come and go several times within its validity window, but each individual stay is still limited to 30 days.
It doesn't extend your passport: The 30-day stay and the visa's own validity window are separate from your passport's 6-month validity rule, which applies on top.
Extensions happen inside Egypt: To stay longer than your e-Visa allows, visit a passport and immigration office in Egypt before it expires; the e-Visa itself cannot be renewed online.
Overstaying has consequences: Staying past your permitted date without an extension can mean a fine or difficulties leaving Egypt or on a future visit.
Six things to have ready before you start your application, as an Azerbaijani applicant.
Colour scan or photo of the ordinary Azerbaijani passport's personal details page. Must be valid at least 6 months from arrival, with a blank page.
Recent photo on a plain white background, head and shoulders visible, no sunglasses.
Flight booking showing arrival and departure dates. Most Azerbaijani travellers fly via Cairo, Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh.
Hotel booking or the address of where you're staying, covering the whole visit.
A Visa, Mastercard or other accepted debit or credit card enabled for international online payment in US dollars; check your Azerbaijani bank allows this before applying.

Are you travelling on an ordinary Azerbaijani passport, not a diplomatic, service or official one?
Is your passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, with a blank page?
Are you flying into or crossing at one of Egypt's listed e-Visa airports, ports or land borders?
Is your trip for tourism or a short business visit, not to work or study in Egypt?

Answer all four
Four quick checks of the rules that most often catch travellers out, and we'll tell you where you stand.

Have your passport bio page, a digital photo, flight and hotel details ready, plus an internationally enabled card to pay in US dollars.
On the official portal
Create an account

After you apply

Show it at the border
Present the printed e-Visa with your passport to the immigration officer at your port of entry.
Yes. Azerbaijan appears on the official Egypt e-Visa Portal's list of eligible nationalities, so most Azerbaijani citizens with an ordinary passport can apply online.
No. The e-Visa is only for ordinary passports. Diplomatic and service passport holders should contact an Egyptian embassy or consulate to check whether they need a visa or are exempt.
The fee is charged in US dollars by card on the official portal. Check with your Azerbaijani bank that your card is enabled for international online payment before applying.
No. That free entry stamp is for EU, UK, US and Israeli passport holders only. Azerbaijani citizens travelling anywhere in Egypt, including Sinai resorts, need the e-Visa or another valid visa.
Yes, as long as you land at one of Egypt's listed e-Visa airports, such as Cairo, Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh. The e-Visa is checked against your entry point, not your departure city.
The official portal says mismatched details can void the application. Double-check your name, passport number and dates against your passport before submitting.
Yes, the portal offers both single and multiple-entry tourism e-Visas; choose the multiple-entry type when you apply if you plan more than one trip.

Getting around
Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are linked by domestic flights, sleeper and day trains, and Nile cruises. Within cities, ride-hailing apps are widely used and generally more reliable than hailing a taxi on the street.
Health and water
Drink bottled or filtered water rather than tap water, and carry sun protection and rehydration salts, especially outside the Cairo winter. Discuss standard travel vaccinations with a doctor before you go.
Dress and etiquette
Dress modestly at mosques, churches and other religious sites, covering shoulders and knees. Ask before photographing people, and avoid photographing military or police sites.
Egypt uses the Egyptian Pound (EGP).
₼1 ≈ E£28.6 · indicative mid-market rate, possibly a few days old
Cards and ATMs
ATMs are common in cities and tourist areas and mostly accept international cards. Hotels, larger shops and restaurants take cards, but smaller vendors, taxis and markets usually want cash.
Carry small notes
Keep a supply of small EGP notes for tipping (locally called baksheesh), taxis, and small purchases, since change can be hard to come by.
Exchange sensibly
Exchange money at banks, official exchange bureaus or your hotel rather than with street changers, and keep some exchange receipts if you plan to convert leftover cash back on departure.

Sweet spot: Cairo has a hot desert climate. Winters (December to February) are mild and dry with cool evenings, spring and autumn are warm, and summer (June to August) is very hot with little rain. Most visitors prefer the cooler months from October to April.
